This spring, the city of Annapolis will be transformed into Hollywood on the Chesapeake for one magical weekend from March 21^st to the 24^th - a committed group of volunteers will be launching the first annual Annapolis Film Festival.

We intend to make the Annapolis Film Festival a showcase for unique and entertaining films. Annapolis is a well-known destination city. It is perfect for a cosmopolitan, artsy, edgy and entertaining film festival to open up the artistic juices of our community. The films will cover the creative landscape of our town.

There will be thought-provoking work exposing current and relevant storytelling. There will be historical pieces that take us back to learn more about our past through the world’s people, culture and history. We will see relatable films about the environment and about the maritime world in which we are surrounded. We will look at societal issues of concern, seen through the eyes of narrative or documentary subjects who take us on their experiential journey in feature length or short films.

And, of course, there will be light fare and shorts that make a point and make us laugh at the same time. As one of our esteemed Advisory Board members, Mimi Edmunds, recently reminded us, "Film is the literature of this generation." Yes, it is.

We know you will want to support the Annapolis Film Festival for a number of different reasons – to help bring this opportunity and experience to the town you love, to help Annapolis continue to be recognized as a center of culture and history or just because you love films!
